πŸš€ My Journey Into the PERN Stack as a Student Developer

Hello DEV Community! πŸ‘‹

My name is Joseph, and I'm a full-stack developer from Nigeria currently studying Software Engineering at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun.

I specialize in the PERN stack:

  • PostgreSQL
  • Express.js
  • React
  • Node.js

Along with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS to build modern, scalable web applications.

This is my first post on DEV, so I wanted to share a bit about my journey and what I'm currently learning.

🌱 How I Got Into Web Development

My interest in software development started with curiosity about how websites and applications actually work behind the scenes.

At first, I experimented with basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Over time, I realized I wanted to build full-stack applications β€” not just the interface users see, but also the backend systems powering them.

That curiosity eventually led me to the PERN stack, which I now use to build modern web apps.

πŸ’» What I'm Currently Learning

Right now I'm focused on improving my skills in:

  • Writing cleaner TypeScript
  • Building scalable Node.js APIs
  • Designing efficient PostgreSQL databases
  • Creating responsive UIs with React + Tailwind CSS

I'm also working on personal projects to turn real-world ideas into functional products.

πŸ›  What I'm Building

Currently, I'm working on:

  • Improving my developer portfolio
  • Building full-stack applications with the PERN stack
  • Experimenting with new backend patterns and API structures

🎯 My Goal

My goal is to become a developer who builds impactful software that solves real problems.

I'm also excited to:

  • Contribute to open source
  • Connect with developers worldwide
  • Share my learning journey here on DEV

πŸ‘‹ Let's Connect

If you're also learning full-stack development or working with the PERN stack, I'd love to connect and learn from you.

Feel free to say hi or share what you're currently building!

Thanks for reading πŸš€
