Code with Soul: Solaria & Barva Themes for VS Code

As a frontend developer and visual design enthusiast, I always felt like my editor should reflect both my mindset and my mood. That's why I created two color themes for Visual Studio Code โ€” elegant, functional, and deeply personal.

1. ๐ŸŒž Solaria Theme โ€” Calm, Minimal, Tailwind-Inspired

Solaria Theme โ€” preview of light and dark variants in VS Code

Solaria is a clean, minimalist, and developer-friendly theme pack with both light and dark variants. It was inspired by Nordic minimalism and the gentle color harmony of Tailwind CSS.

๐Ÿ”ง Features

  1. Solaria Light โ€” airy and fresh, perfect for day coding
  2. Solaria Dark โ€” soft and focused, ideal for night sessions
  3. Optimized for: JS/TS, HTML, CSS/SCSS, PHP, Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and more
  4. Semantic Highlighting: colors that follow context (variables, functions, classes)
  5. Tailwind CSS classes & SCSS variables pop with clarity
  6. Meets WCAG 2.1 contrast standards
  7. Clean UI for a distraction-free coding zen

2. ๐ŸŒบ Barva Theme โ€” Ukrainian Soul in Every Line of Code

Barva Theme โ€” preview of light and dark variants in VS Code

Barva (which means "color" in Ukrainian) is more than just a theme โ€” itโ€™s a coded homage to Ukrainian embroidery (vyshyvanka). Every shade was chosen to reflect the harmony of tradition and tech.

๐Ÿ”ง Features

  1. Barva Light and Barva Dark variants
  2. Optimized for: JS/TS, HTML, CSS/SCSS, PHP, Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and more
  3. Full semantic highlighting support
  4. WCAG 2.1 ready
  5. Clean interface, yet vibrant where it counts

  • โค๏ธ #A61C3C (red)
  • ๐Ÿ’™ #2A4B7C (blue)
  • ๐ŸŒพ #D4A017 (yellow)
  • ๐ŸŒฟ #3A6F3A (green)

๐Ÿ’ก Why Two Themes?

I believe every developer should have the freedom to match their tools to their personality.

Some days call for calm focus (Solaria), others โ€” for proud expression (Barva). Now, I can switch between them โ€” and so can you.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Feedback Welcome!

Both themes are open-source and live.
If you try them, Iโ€™d love to hear your thoughts:

  1. Share your feedback
  2. Suggest ideas or color tweaks
  3. Or fork and remix them into your own flavor!

If you enjoy them, donโ€™t forget to โญ๏ธ the repo or share it with a fellow dev.

Thanks for reading โ€” may your code be clean and your editor beautiful.

this is extremely impressive, iโ€™ve wanted themes that feel a bit more connected to actual design and mood instead of just changing colors. you feel the difference in workflow when thereโ€™s real thought like this behind it. ever notice changes in your code focus depending on theme vibes?

Thank you for your feedback. I tried to make the themes not look like a multi-colored parrot, and on the other hand, so that their palette would not strain and would be useful for the eyes during long hours of work at the monitor.

Lovely themes ๐Ÿฅฐ happy to โญ๏ธ them. I prefer Solaria, but I like Barva's tribute to Ukrainian and Belorussian Vyshyvanka.
