Hi,
I'm gurpreet. I started my journey of building stuff on internet when ChatGPT hyped almost 1.5 years ago.
I am a software developer, but I've never thought that building would be difficult mostly if you are doing it alongside your full-time job.
So, if you finish 9 hours at work, and then you also have to work 3 hours on your app. TBH, it sucks. It will get all your energy.
What I built
I'm one of those people who like to build things that they face daily. I was trying many expense trackers, that's why I built dailyexpensetracker. in
I didn't know whether it would work out. I just had this thought that I will build it.
- I was passionate about this
- I wanted to have something on the browser easy to handle.
I open sourced it now. But initially when I started getting users I've never thought that i would make any short of money out of it.
Even though one of the active buliders on twitter said that you canb build it for fun but its not going to make money. I accepted that.
But now to be honest i recently added paywal and I have 3 paying users.
I have a total of 1300+ users, but less than 4th of them are active because these types of apps need a mobile app. But I would rather like to use browser for it. Because its easy to import and read bank statements.
I kind of feel that. I failed in this startup. But still I'll build a mobile app. Which can satisfy my needs.
Open for your thoughts on it.
